Informal and Formal Photos

Formal

Describes a context where word choice and syntax are primarily limited to those terms and constructions that are accepted by academia or official institutions as most appropriate and correct. Examples with varying degrees of formality include: official or legal documents, formal essays, job interviews, etc.

Informal

Denotes spoken or written words that are used primarily in a familiar, or casual, context, where a clear, formal equivalent often exists that is employed in its place in informal contexts. E.g.

Task 1

The difference between Formal and Informal pictures is;

1) The people in formal pictures are always dressed smartly.

2) People in formal pictures are always posing.

3) The formal picture background is usually in a smart room, like an office or a studio.

4) People in Informal pictures aren’t usually posing.

5) People in formal pictures aren’t usually smiling.

6) Informal pictures are usually more casual and people are dressed and sit comfortably.

Both of the above pictures are formal because both of the people in the picture are dressed smartly. The lady in the picture on the left is wearing a dress and the man is wearing a suit, shirt and tie

The two pictures have different backgrounds. In the picture on the right, it shows a man sitting in an office with a Laptop and desk in the background. The picture on the left has a plain, white background.

It’s more difficult to take a formal picture because the picture has to be taken in a specific setting. As the picture is for a serious purpose, it has to meet the formal criteria.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Both of the pictures are informal because the people in the photos are smiling, relaxed and appear comfortable.

The two pictures differ because in Obama’s family photo, they are all dressed smartly and the background is colourful. The picture on the right shows the two young men dressed casually against a white background.

It’s not that difficult to take an informal picture because the entire situation is more casual and relaxed.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is my favorite picture because the picture shows a smiling girl in front of an apple mac with some people in the background. It’s a colorful environment.
